Our Story

When and where was Layne’s founded?

Layne’s was born and breaded in College Station, Texas, back in 1994. What started as a small-town chicken finger spot quickly became a local favorite, especially among Texas A&M students. More than 30+ years later, we’re still serving the same Chicken Fingers, fries, toast and secret sauce – just in A LOT more places.

Who founded Layne’s Chicken Fingers?

Mike Layne opened the original Layne’s in College Station in 1994 with a simple idea: serve astronomically good chicken fingers. A year later, Texas A&M student Mike Garratt joined the team after Mike Layne spotted him cleaning up the restaurant’s flowerbeds. Garratt eventually became the owner of Layne’s, helping preserve the quirky, laid-back spirit that made the original restaurant special.

Who currently owns Layne’s

In 2017, College Station native Garrett Reed and his best friend, Matt O’Reilly – a die-hard Wisconsin Badger – bought Layne’s from Mike Garratt with a pretty big dream: take the little chicken finger joint College Station had loved since 1994 and bring it to towns across America and, eventually, beyond. Mike Garratt kept a small ownership in the company and remains as a voice in decision making for the brand.

Is the original Layne’s still open?

It sure is. Our original College Station, TX location is still serving up chicken fingers today. While Layne’s has grown well beyond College Station, we’re proud of where we came from and we work hard to keep a little bit of that original college-town personality in every restaurant we open.

Is Layne’s a Texas brand?

Absolutely. We were born in College Station, Texas, in 1994, and we’re proud of those roots. Today, we’re bringing our Texas-born chicken fingers, secret sauce and laid-back attitude to communities across the country. Born & Breaded in Texas.

What makes Layne’s different?

We’ve kept things pretty simple since 1994: make astronomically good chicken fingers with good vibes along the way. We don’t take ourselves too seriously, but we take our chicken very seriously. That attitude has been part of Layne’s since the beginning and still shapes everything from our food to our hospitality.

How many sauces do you have?

We currently have 6 different sauce options. Layne’s Sauce, Honey Mustard, Jalapeño Ranch, Buttermilk Ranch, BBQ and Gravy.

What flavors of milkshakes do you have?

We serve 5 hand-spun shakes which include vanilla, chocolate, strawberry, Oreo, and salted caramel. We also have a seasonal flavor twice a year.

Do you have a kids menu?

Yes, we offer two kids meal options; a two tender kids chicken finger meal and a kids grilled cheese meal.

Do you offer spicy chicken?

Yes, we offer both original and spicy tenders.

Can I get something else if I don’t want the fries or toast?

If you aren’t a fan of either the toast or fries you can substitute them for either more fries, toast or sauce.

Do you have vegetarian options?

Our grilled cheese is the only vegetarian food item we currently offer. However, if you have an allergen we use shared cooking equipment and cannot guarantee that any menu item will be completely free of allergens.

What oil do you use for frying?

All of our chicken and fries are fried in canola oil.

How do I place a catering order?

For groups over 20 we recommend you filling out our “Contact Us” form and someone from our team will reach out to you.

Do you have family style meals or party packs?

Yes, our family packs include chicken, fries, toast, and sauce. We also offer party packs with 10-100 chicken fingers.

What type of chicken does Layne’s serve?

100% premium chicken tenders sourced from quality-certified suppliers across America. We marinate our tenders in-store using our proprietary three-ingredient marinade, then hand-batter them in flour and our signature blend of all-natural herbs and spices.

Does Layne’s serve halal chicken?

Layne’s is not affiliated with any religion or religious organization. As a franchise brand, a few of our locally owned and operated restaurants may choose to offer halal chicken to meet the needs and preferences of the communities they serve.

Availability and preparation may vary by restaurant and region, so we recommend contacting your local Layne’s directly to confirm before visiting.

At the end of the day, Layne’s is a chicken finger brand for everyone. Our goal is simple: serve astronomically good chicken and make everyone feel welcome.

What makes Layne’s fries so good?

Our fries start with 100% Grade A potatoes grown and sourced in the USA. They’re cooked and seasoned in-store with our signature blend of spices.

What makes Layne’s Texas Toast so good?

Our thick-cut Texas Toast is buttered & grilled until golden brown on the outside and soft on the inside, then finished with our signature seasoning.

What’s in Layne’s Sauce?

Our signature Layne’s Sauce has been part of the story since our College Station roots in 1994. It’s made in-store with a base of mayonnaise, ketchup, Worcestershire sauce and our proprietary blend of herbs and spices. The exact recipe? That’s one secret we’re keeping to ourselves.

What forms of payment do you accept?

We accept cash and all card types.

Do you accept Apple Pay and Google pay?

Yes we do.

App & Rewards

Do you have rewards?

Joining our rewards program is super easy! Just download our app and sign up for the rewards program to start earning points on every purchase. Earning and redeeming awards is only valid for in-store purchases.

Can I order online or through an app?

Yes, online and app ordering is typically available for any location open at least 3 months. To note: online ordering is currently powered by DoorDash and does not allow for the earning or redeeming of Astro Points.

How do I redeem rewards?

To claim your rewards, simply go to our app and select the reward you’d like to use. Once you’ve claimed it, our team will look you up at checkout and apply the gift. Rewards cannot be redeemed on online orders.

Do rewards and points expire?

Points don’t expire. Rewards do expire and you can find the expiration date of any reward you have redeemed to your account under “gifts”.
