Four years ago, Layne’s Chicken Fingers could be described as a cult-favorite, mom-and-pop restaurant near the campus of Texas A&M University.
The chain, open since 1994, expanded to three units in College Station, Texas, in that timeframe. Then, Garrett Reed and his business partner, Matt O’Reilly, entered the picture in 2017 and quickly infused visions of what the chicken chain could become over the next several years.

Layne’s Chicken Fingers has opened in Katy, giving locals a taste of the “soon to be famous” tenders that earned an initial following in College Station. The brand’s first Houston-area outpost opened on June 26 at 23703 Cinco Ranch Boulevard, complete with a drive-thru.

A new fried chicken fast food restaurant opened this week in Roanoke.
The first Layne’s Chicken Fingers in southern Denton County is now open at 1500 North Hwy 377, in the old Dairy Queen location. The menu includes chicken fingers served with a choice of dipping sauces — including buttermilk ranch, honey mustard, BBQ, and the Layne’s secret sauce — chicken sandwiches served on Texas toast, grilled chicken wrap and milkshakes.

Layne’s Chicken Fingers is continuing its steady growth in North Texas, opening a location in Roanoke this week, with plans to add up to 35 restaurants throughout Dallas-Fort Worth at a pace of about four to five stores annually.
